Why Bodymics

Built for theatre, not adapted for it.

Bodymics are omnidirectional earsets, headsets and hairline/lavalier mics made for theatre. Each one comes wired for the wireless system you already own, in colors and boom lengths that help it disappear under stage light.

Broadway Series 4 mm capsule 4 mm

Broadway Series

Our near-invisible theatre microphone line. The Broadway Series balances a discreet profile with the flexibility and durability productions need for everyday performance. A good fit for most live performance, and usually the lower-priced capsule.

Available as earset, headset, and hairline/lavalier microphones.

Drury Lane Series 3 mm capsule 3 mm

Drury Lane Series

Grain-of-rice small. The Drury Lane Series uses an ultra-miniature capsule housing for productions where the microphone needs to disappear even further. Choose it when concealment is the priority.

Available as earset, headset, and hairline/lavalier microphones.

Choosing a style

Earset, headset or lavalier?

Choose by how much the performer moves and how hidden the mic needs to be.

Earset

A single-ear hook that's lightweight and discreet. Choose this when one ear holds the mic securely enough for the choreography.

Headset

A dual-ear design with extra stability for dance, active performers and smaller performers who need a secure fit.

Lavalier / hairline

Flexible placement in the hairline, under a wig or on the costume. Choose this when a visible boom isn't wanted.

Compatibility

Made for the system you already own.

A Bodymic is the microphone element the performer wears. It plugs into your wireless bodypack transmitter, and the transmitter and receiver are separate equipment. Some manufacturers use different connectors across product families, so check the exact model of your bodypack.

Send us the manufacturer and model number, or a photo of the bodypack and connector, and we'll confirm the right connection.

Warranty & repair

Covered for the life of your mics.

  • First 30 days: exchange for another mic type.
  • Up to 1 year: warranty replacement with the same brand and model, or store credit.
  • Years 2–5: Flat-Rate Service. We repair or replace it, and return shipping is included.
  • After 5 years: 10% off a new replacement (up to $100).

FAQ

Common questions

What exactly am I buying?

The microphone element worn by the performer. It connects to a compatible wireless transmitter pack. The transmitter and receiver are separate equipment unless a listing says otherwise.

Can I use Bodymics with the wireless system I already own?

In many cases, yes. Choose your system in the builder above and we'll match the connection. Bodymics are made for Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, AKG, MiPro and Creative Audio systems.

How do I know which connector I need?

Check the manufacturer and exact model number of your bodypack transmitter. Not every transmitter from one manufacturer is wired the same way, so if you're unsure, send us the model number or a photo.

Which boom length fits a smaller performer?

The 3.3" boom is a useful option for many smaller performers, but face size and mic position decide the fit. Many schools keep a mix of lengths so they can fit each performer.

Do I need to buy a complete wireless system?

No. If you already own compatible transmitters and receivers, buy only the Bodymics. Starting from scratch? See Show-Ready Wireless Systems.

Can my school pay with a purchase order?

U.S. public schools and districts can request to pay by purchase order, and tax-exempt orders are welcome. See how school ordering works.

Wireless compatibility & connector guide

Check the bodypack, not the receiver. The brand name is printed on the transmitter pack that clips to the performer’s costume.

Fit & boom length guide

Bodymics earsets come in several boom lengths so you can fit the microphone to the performer, not the performer to the microphone.

4.2"Standard boom

Recommended general-purpose size for most adults.

3.3"Short boom

A useful option for many younger and smaller performers.

2.6"Micro boom

Exceptionally discreet. Sits closer to the ear, farther from the mouth.

1.6"Ear boom

Our shortest option, for an extremely discreet, ear-worn profile.

VariableYour length

Select the boom length you need for a specific performer.

Choose by the performer’s face, not their age. An earset that fits an adult lead may reach too far forward on a smaller performer. Shorter booms sit further back on the cheek and are easier to hide. Many schools keep a mix of lengths. Fitting a mixed cast? Call 718-874-2642 and we’ll help you split the order.

Color guide

Choose beige, brown, or black to match the performer’s skin tone, hair, costume or production design, so the mic disappears under stage light.

The microphone has a difficult job: sound great, survive the production, stay where you put it—and ideally, never become part of the audience's attention.

The Bodymics story

Made for theatre. Always has been.

Bodymics began with innovator Rod Reilly and a pretty simple idea: performers deserved microphones designed around the realities of being onstage.

Stage Gear began as Broadway Media’s theatre-focused rental house, and after thousands of rentals—and years of seeing where traditional AV suppliers fell short—we joined forces with Bodymics founder Rod Reilly around a shared goal: not to be the biggest AV provider, but the best one for theatre.

Today, Bodymics is part of Stage Gear, carrying that mission forward through theatre-specific products, rentals, wireless, projection, complete production systems, and support from people who understand how the gear is actually used.
